Phase one of the project - sidewalks, road shoulders and retaining walls – and phase two of the project - completion of street light - were completed.
The implementation works for phase three, which will focus on the continuation and expansion of phase one, are ongoing as per the planned schedule. Over the past two weeks, activities have continued to focus on execution of the sidewalks and the retaining walls. In addition, works have continued on asphalting of the area between the sidewalks and the edges of the roads. Since August 12th, 380 new workdays have been generated for 46 workers (12 skilled and 34 unskilled), among them 25 workers from Beit `Ur Al-Tahta Village. To date, 1,550 person days of employment have been generated. The project is now at 38% completion.

The EJP team met on August 17, 2009 with Dr. Mofeed al Shami and representatives from the village council to discuss the project progress and the need for a site supervisor from the Village Council to ensure follow up of implementation, also the team discussed with Dr. Mofeed the ideas, date and time for the inauguration. Following this meeting, a decision was taken that the new village council site engineer should follow up the work daily. Dr. Mofeed agreed with the team that he will confirm the date of the inauguration during the beginning of October month (penciled in 15th October – TBC). Then, a meeting will be scheduled between Dr. Mofeed and the CHF visibility and outreach team to prepare for the inauguration.
