Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 11, 2011 - 3:00pm

ACP's CFC organization reference number 10871.

The United States Office of Personnel Management announced on June 15 that it has officially approved American Charities for Palestine’s (ACP) participation in the 2011 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) as a member of Peace and Reconciliation Charities.

Established in 1961 and managed by the Office of Personnel Management and the Local Federal Coordinating Committee, the CFC runs an annual campaign from September to December to support eligible non-profits and philanthropy in health and human service projects domestically and internationally, by soliciting donations from federal employees at the workplace in their local offices on behalf of participating charity organizations. The CFC is the largest and most successful workplace philanthropic campaign.

Funds collected through the CFC will help support ACP in its work to improve quality of life in Palestine. ACP’s non-partisan mission focuses on improving the health and education sectors in Palestine. Through its focus on these sectors, ACP promotes development fundamental to the creation of a viable and prosperous Palestinian state, living in dignity, and secure in its ability to contribute to worldwide peace.

In August 2008, ACP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the United States Agency for International Development that ensured recipients of ACP donations were fully vetted by USAID. Since signing this partnership agreement, ACP has completed three charitable initiatives directly benefiting Palestinians in the West Bank, totaling $600,000.

With regard to current charitable initiatives, ACP has just secured a commitment for $100,000 to deliver laptops for Palestinian students, with additional spending committed. Among ACP’s other recent activities is the effort to raise $330,000 to fund cataract surgeries at St. John’s Eye Hospital in Jerusalem as well as a recently signed MOU with Georgetown University Medical Center to open a continuing medical education center in the West Bank.

To donate to American Charities for Palestine through the CFC, please use the CFC organization reference number 10871.

"To this end, the example of American Charities for Palestine (ACP), is illustrative. ACP works with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and other groups to improve the lives of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza."
